Here’s how that mission has translated itself on the ground both in the past and
present – ROCC has:
  • Acted as a ‘watchdog’ on actions taken by our county officials
  • Began the community discussion supporting affordable housing
  • Persisted in winning for Ridgway certification as a Dark Sky community
  • Retrofitted with volunteers efficient LEDs for Ridgway, Ouray, and Ridgway School District
  • Spearheaded a compromise to save County Road 5 as a beloved winter recreation corridor
  • Organized with partners local candidate forums to educate the public on the issues
  • Members do a twice per year highway cleanup
  • Built a successful campaign to prevent excessive residential development on mining claims in the High Alpine area
  • Coordinated with partners a public lands campaign to protect the fragile Blue Lakes environs

ROCC truly values your continuing / new membership – it is not possible to have these accomplishments without the democratic involvement of ROCC members.
ROCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
ROCC works to enhance Ouray County's quality of life
